Lose the Gum – A Survival Guide for Women on Wall Street

LoseTheGum_Book Cover Peview1It was exactly one year and five days ago, when I announced the completion of my (first) book Lose the Gum. Several revisions later and it is now available for purchase on Balboa Press’s website as well Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com.  The book is meant to be a survival guide for women on Wall Street, but there has been a great deal of interest from women within a variety of industries; particularly industries that are male-dominated and can be challenging for women to navigate.

I wrote Lose the Gum based on my own personal experiences. I offer lessons that I learned from missteps that I made throughout a twenty plus year career, in an industry that is fierce and unforgiving. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have been much better off – so I am sharing my experiences to raise awareness of the pitfalls that exist, so that others can steer clear of them.

I’d be enormously grateful if all of you would buy a copy of book and share the links on your social media pages.  Thanks to everyone for all your support as I venture through this endeavor of what to me is unchartered territory.  xo, Tamara

  1. I bought my copy and can’t wait to read! I have relied on your advice countless times – this will be an excellent resource for so many!

  2. Congratulations! I’m so happy for you that you finished the book. I can’t wait to read it. You’ll have to let me know what you think of Balboa Press. Since we met in New York, I finished my PhD and Masters and have been teaching and writing academic articles. But, I still haven’t given up on a more popular book. One day. Again, congratulations! I’m excited for you.

    • Thanks so much Janna. I like the resources provided by Balboa, but like all publishers their cut is substantial. However, as a first time author I think it would be really hard to go it alone. Congratulations on your achievements as well, those are tremendous accomplishments.

  6. Tamara, you amaze me and inspire me. Writing a book and getting it published is a huge accomplishment. We have ordered our copy and have already sent one as a gift to a young woman contemplating a career on Wall Street.

I cannot wait to read it. Knowing you, it will be full of practical advice and a fun read.

    Congratulations!

    • Thanks so much Gautam. Ugh it was a long journey to get here – as you have seen first hand.

We miss you in New York and hope you can stop back in for a while. Maybe you can help with the repeal of the Volcker Rule.

      xo,
      Tami

    • Thanks Elisabeth. I’m so happy that you are going to read it. I’m curious to know what you think of it when you’re done.
